With the aim of improving administrative efficiency, speeding up operations and procedures, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) has delegated new responsibilities to the Director of the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM).
This measure allows the head of the country’s customs to establish the Procurement, Leasing, and Services Committee of ANAM, as well as to authorize the signing of contracts abroad for goods, leases, or services intended for use outside the national territory. Additionally, they will have the authority to decide on exceptions to public bidding and to contract necessary equipment for scientific research and technological development projects.
Likewise, they are granted the responsibility to create the Public Works Committee in accordance with the Public Works and Related Services Law. In exceptional cases, they may set a percentage higher than 30% of the authorized budget for contracts for works and related services, and establish the corresponding guarantees.
The head of ANAM may also designate authorized public servants to order the temporary suspension of contracted work, in compliance with the modernization and administrative development criteria established for the agency.
