Top 10: The entities with the highest volume of agricultural exports in Mexico

The main producer of avocados, Michoacán, also leads in value of agricultural exports in the country. Between January and March 2024, it exported agricultural products for a total of 1,306 million dollars.

In the first quarter of 2024, Mexico’s agricultural exports grew 4.3% year-on-year, according to data from Inegi (National Institute of Statistics and Geography).

Michoacán stood out as the entity that generated the most value in agricultural exports, reaching a total of 1,306 million dollars.

In this state, exports of avocados stand out, as well as strawberries, blackberries and lentils.

Sinaloa and Sonora ranked second and third in agricultural exports, with a total of 1,034 and 563 million dollars, respectively.

Other entities that ranked in the top 10 include Jalisco, Baja California, Guanajuato, Chihuahua, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Chiapas.

Despite the growth of the agricultural export sector, it faces important challenges: organized crime, climatic conditions and public policies are some of them.
