Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration has postponed the consolidated purchase process for medicines intended to supply 27 public health institutions. The announcement of the winners of the tenders to cover the 5,000 drug codes, initially scheduled for this Wednesday, December 11, was moved to December 26 of this year, according to the Ministry of Health.
Eduardo Clark, Undersecretary of Health Integration and Development, explained that the delay is due to modifications in the bidding process and administrative issues within the Ministry of Health.
“We have decided to adjust our processes, which has caused us certain administrative delays, in order to ensure that the tender is completely international and open, allowing the participation of foreign generics,” he explained.
This situation could generate complications in delivery times for pharmaceutical companies, which, according to estimates, could begin to supply the first batches of medicines until March 2025.
