Following the guidelines of the governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal, to attract investments and advanced technology to the state, the Secretary of Energy Development, José Ramón Silva, signed a letter of intent with the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPTI) in Guangzhou, China.

The meeting, held at the facilities of the CCPTI and with the participation of the Consul General of Mexico in Guangzhou, Julián Adem, marks a significant step forward for Tamaulipas to establish a commercial alliance for the benefit of the Northern Port and other strategic energy projects.

Yuan Yue, general director of the Port Authority, expressed her interest in fostering a close and friendly collaboration between the ports of Guangzhou and Matamoros.

“We are interested in cooperating and I am happy to promote this collaboration with allied ports. We offer training and technical courses for ports in more than 20 countries, and we would like to increase our cooperation with the ports of Mexico,” he said.

The Secretary of Energy Development highlighted the strategic advantage of the Puerto del Norte and the potential of this relationship with the CCPTI.

“Tamaulipas is one of the most important states in Mexico, and the Puerto del Norte is projected to be the most important port in the country due to its investment opportunities and strategic location close to the neighboring country. We want to bring this investment and learn from Guangzhou’s port technology,” he said.

According to the state government, the letter of intent aims to coordinate an alliance between ports and organize a future meeting to formalize a collaboration agreement on commercial and port matters.
