Sheinbaum and Trudeau discuss progress and results of the USMCA.

Sheinbaum y Trudeau dialogan sobre los avances y resultados del T-MEC.

During her stay in Brazil, President Claudia Sheinbaum held a dialogue with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday to analyze the progress and achievements of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC), within the framework of the G20 Summit.

“We agree on the benefits that the T-MEC has brought to North America,” the president highlighted on her X account, also highlighting the solid relationship between both nations.

The governments of Mexico, the United States and Canada are preparing for the review of the T-MEC scheduled for 2026, a process that generates concern among investors due to the protectionist positions of former President Donald Trump, who recently won the elections in the United States.

During her visit to Brazil, President Claudia Sheinbaum met with the outgoing President of the United States, Joe Biden, to reaffirm the “good relationship” between both nations.

Sheinbaum participated in the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, where, in the first working session entitled “Fight against Hunger and Poverty,” she proposed allocating 1% of global military spending to the creation of the most ambitious reforestation program in history.

In her speech before world leaders, Sheinbaum emphasized the need to redirect resources destined for the arms industry towards initiatives that promote sustainable development and combat climate change.
